Why on earth would someone create a blog entitled “God of Tuesday”? Isn’t God the God of all days?
Well, of course He is!
There is something unique, however, about Tuesdays. It’s the “forgotten” day. Monday’s the day that everyone dreads - the day where the fun of the weekend has come to an end, and it’s time to get “back to the grind” of work. Wednesday has its own nickname to make it sound cooler - “Humpday”. Need I remind you of the famous Geico commercials with the camel? Thursdays are known as “Baby Friday” in a lot of circles - or at least that’s what I hear from the instructors in my spin classes. Of course, Friday is the day of freedom! We’re done with the demands of the work week, and the time of “real life” can begin. Saturday’s the best - it’s day where we can sleep in, and in general we only have commitments that are “fun”. Sunday - now that’s the Lord’s Day, and we have to keep that holy.
But what about Tuesday? It doesn’t have any cute nicknames. It’s not known for the day we fear, nor the day we look forward to. It’s just the most average day of them all. It’s the day where we just are who we are, doing what we do, in the normal patterns of life. ...and I believe it’s where our faith can grow the most.
You see, God is absolutely the God of the highs of our life! When we’re on the mountain tops, it’s easy to see God. When we see the spectacular sunsets, when we hear a newborn baby cry, when we celebrate Christmas - it’s easy to see God there.
God is absolutely the God of the low points in our lives. When we are desperate, when we are sad, when we are down - we cry out to Him. When we feel betrayed, we blame Him. When our child is sick, or there’s just not quite enough money to go around, we pray to Him and ask Him to intervene.
But what about our average day? What about when we’re not having a high, nor having a low? What about when we’re just being who we are, on the most normal days of our lives? What about on Tuesday?
God is absolutely still God then. In fact, that is probably when God shows you the clearest who He is to you. What do you think about on Tuesday? Are you drawn to Him? Do you forget Him? Where is God on Tuesday? It’s subjects like this that I want to explore in this blog. Many People have endeavored to write about God in the high of life, and many People have struggled to write about our trust in God in the lows of life.
But what about Tuesdays?
He is still in your corner. He is still there. He is longing for you.
He is the God of Tuesday.
